In March, sales of new single-family homes were up 26.9 percent over February’s rate, according to estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The jump was the largest monthly increase in 47 years and is 23.8 percent above last year’s estimate. Also, the median sales price of new homes was $214,000 with an average price of $258,600.
